LPN – Licensed Practical Nurse

Summary: Under close direction and guidance of the Lead Nurse, the LPN provides important support to the clients, medication administration, intakes, recording vitals, charting in medical databases, and other medical care during the time they are with NSR. The LPN plays a key role during intakes, following protocol during intake and other duties as assigned.

LPN Responsibilities:

• Monitor and document physical and mental health needs
• Use withdrawal screening, interview and history taking to assess patient safety
• Create and update medication administration records, administration of medication
• Work with psychiatric providers to assess mental health symptoms and create treatment plans
• Assist in maintaining high quality, timely nursing documentation in patient charts
• Provide patient education focused on treatment of mental health and substance use disorders
• Keep medical supplies in stock and up to date
• Supervise chemical dependency technician staff

LPN – Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience working with mental health and substance use disorder is preferred
• Acknowledge understanding of Client Rights, per MN Rule 31, part 4747.1500.
• Must completed DHS background check and be cleared to work in human services programs.
• Acknowledge freedom from substance abuse problems and ability to comply with NSR drug free workplace policy.
• Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Must be able to work independently, manage time effectively, detail oriented
• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
