Overview
Why Choose a Men's Low-Intensity Residential Program?
NorthStar Regional’s Men’s Low-Intensity Residential Program is located on the 2nd floor of our Valley View Campus in Eden Prairie. In addition to providing housing, meals, and therapeutic programming, clients are encourage to pursue employment, volunteer opportunities, and other community engagement as they build stability and independence in recovery.
Our program provides integrated treatment for substance use and mental health concerns through a coordinated, multidisciplinary team approach. Many individuals experience both substance use and mental health challenges – often referred to as co-occurring disorders or dual diagnosis. By addressing both areas together, we support more sustainable recovery and stronger long-term outcomes.

Low-Intensity Residential Program
Clients participate in a structured, recovery-oriented residential environment designed to strengthen coping skills, build independence, and prepare for successful transition to outpatient care.
Each client works with a Primary Counselor and participates in individual counseling sessions to review progress, update treatment goals, and address ongoing needs. Treatment planning is collaborative and evolves as clients move forward in their recovery. ASAM dimensions are reviewed as clinically appropriate to support placement decisions and discharge planning.
Clients are encouraged to actively participate in programming, remain engaged in their treatment goals, and build routines that support long-term recovery and reintegration into the community.
Getting Started
How Does Someone Start Treatment?
The first step in completing a clinical assessment to determine whether Low-Intensity Residential care is the appropriate level of support. If ASAM 3.1 is recommended, our Admissions team will assist with coordinating next steps toward admission.
At intake, clients are oriented to the program, review expectations, and begin working with staff to develop their initial treatment plan. When additional services or supports are recommended, our team helps coordinate referrals to ensure continuity of care.
To schedule an assessment, please call 833-677-4673.
If a client has completed a recent assessment, it may be faxed to 952-470-4337 prior to the appointment for review by our clinical team.
