Sober housing guidelines

How Sober Housing Works

A sober living home, simply put, is a house where individuals live who have had trouble with alcohol / drugs, but are now actively living a sober life and have decided to live together for that shared purpose.

Since most sober living homes supply everything from furniture to bedding to paying the bills, as well as many of the daily necessities, it also acts as a stepping stone for those who have few resources.

Sober Housing Requirements

Some of the requirements for Sober Housing include:

  • Must be an addict or alcoholic by admission.
  • Must commit for 90 days minimum.
  • Must be detoxed with no drugs or alcohol in system.
  • Must be 18 years old or older.
  • Must be at least 30 days sober, or complete an inpatient treatment program or four weeks of outpatient.
  • Must work a program of recovery.
  • No house arrests.
  • Must not have a history of sex crimes or arson.
  • Must acquire a 12-step sponsor within 14 days.
