Position: Mental Health Professional
The Mental Health Professional plays a crucial role in providing clinical care and support to individuals experiencing SUD and mental health challenges. Mental Health Professional Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough mental health assessments for all new intakes to evaluate clients' emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
2. Lead group psychoeducation sessions as directed by NorthStar Regional curriculum.
3. Provide immediate crisis intervention and support to clients in acute distress, ensuring their safety and emotional stability.
4. Facilitate individual counseling sessions, as needed, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques to assist clients in managing and resolving mental health issues.
5. Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, social workers, and case managers, to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.
6. Educate clients about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies to promote better understanding and self-management.
7. Advocate for clients' needs within the healthcare system and community resources, helping them access appropriate services and support, including but not limited to connecting them individual therapy, case management services, ARMHS services, etc.
8. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and competence in delivering care to clients from diverse backgrounds.
9. Maintain thorough and confidential client records, ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations.
10. Continuous maintenance and improvement of Organizational and Therapeutic Culture: Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Spirituality, Excellence (R.A.I.S.E!)
11. All other duties as assigned.
Mental Health Professional Minimum Qualifications:
1. At least 18 years of age
2. High school diploma or GED
3. Master's degree or higher in a mental health-related field (e.g., Psychology, Counseling, Social Work).
4. State licensure or certification as a mental health professional as defined in MN Statue section 245I.04, subdivision 2 (e.g., Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Psychologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist).
5. Strong clinical assessment and therapeutic skills.
6. Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic interventions and treatment modalities.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
9. Commitment to ethical and professional standards in mental health practice.
10. Consent to background check and be cleared by DHS to work within a human services program
11. Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner
12. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and boundaries

14. Must be free from problematic chemical use including strict adherence to NSR’s drug free workplace policy.

Treatment Director - Eden Prairie, MN
$86,000 - $96,000 a year
Summary: The Valley View Treatment Director leads clinical operations and collaborates with the Operations Director on overall operational management. Oversight and responsibility to Withdrawal Management, Residential, and Low Intensity Residential programs. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, client-centered care across the full continuum, while maintaining full regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
Accountable for program performance, staff development, census management, and clinical integrity of services. Collaborates cross-functionally with admissions, medical, and executive leadership to ensure continuity of care, optimize client outcomes, and advance NSR’s mission of rebuilding lives and restoring individuals to their best selves.
Work Schedule and Availability:
• The Valley View Treatment Director is expected to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
• The Valley View Treatment Director must maintain availability outside of standard hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays, to support phone calls, triage needs, and on-site response when necessary.
• If the Valley View Treatment Director is unavailable during after-hours, weekends, or holidays, a responsible designee must be assigned to provide coverage. All coverage plans must be clearly communicated to the facility and approved by the COO to ensure continuity of leadership and support.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership & Program Oversight – Residential and Low Intensity Residential
a. Provide leadership and oversight of all Valley View clinical operations across Residential and Low Intensity Residential levels of care.
b. Ensure delivery of high-quality, client-centered care aligned with NSR standards and evidence-based practices.
c. Establish and maintain a professional and therapeutic environment centered around NSRs core RAISE values.
d. Develop, implement, and maintain program curriculum reflective of client population needs.
e. Lead and implement client retention and engagement strategies to improve outcomes and reduce ASAs.
f. Oversee program admissions, intake processes, and client flow in alignment with program capacity and census expectations.
g. Oversee discharge planning and coordination of care across the NSR continuum.
h. Maintain appropriate staffing ratios and assign caseloads in accordance with licensing requirements. - Clinical Leadership & Program Oversight – Withdrawal Management
a. Ensure strict compliance with Minnesota Statute 245F, including all regulatory, licensing, and clinical requirements governing Withdrawal Management services.
b. Provide direct leadership and oversight of the Withdrawal Management unit, ensuring safe, compliant, and effective client care at all times.
c. Oversee and manage Withdrawal Management staff, including the RN Manager, RNs, LPNs, and Technicians, ensuring clear expectations, accountability, and performance management.
d. Ensure appropriate staffing coverage at all times, including proactive planning for schedule gaps and real-time adjustments as needed.
e. Collaborate with pharmacy partners, RN Manager, and Medical Director to ensure compliant medication management, adherence to medication protocols and strict oversight of medication counts, including controlled substances and narcotics.
f. Provide on-site clinical supervision, consultation, and decision-making support for the unit. Ensure a 245F qualified responsible party is available at all times.
g. Lead and support implementation of AMA blocking strategies to improve client retention and engagement.
h. Approve all Withdrawal Management discharges with COO, ensuring clinical appropriateness, continuity of care, and alignment with NSR discharge planning expectations.
i. Facilitate and/or ensure completion of team meetings, clinical consultations, and shift-to-shift communication to maintain alignment and quality of care.
j. Support staff development through coaching, training, and ongoing education specific to Withdrawal Management best practices.
k. Address and escalate clinical, staffing, or operational concerns in real time to maintain safety and program integrity. - Compliance
a. Ensure compliance with Minnesota Statutes 245G, 245F, and 245I and maintain readiness for licensing and regulatory review.
b. Ensure compliance with Minnesota Department of Health Supervised Living Facilities requirements and maintain readiness for licensing and regulatory review.
c. Maintain and update program policies, procedures, and documentation to meet regulatory standards.
d. Implement and enforce program policies and procedures across all levels of care.
e. Monitor program fidelity, outcomes, and performance metrics; implement improvement plans as needed.
f. Ensure all required trainings, supervision, and personnel documentation meet compliance standards.
g. In conjunction with the Operations Director, oversee all facility safety measures, including required drills, emergency preparedness, and coordination of additional staff trainings as needed.
h. Complete required monthly chart audits and the monthly compliance checklist, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation. - Staff Leadership & Development
a. Provide supervision, coaching, and leadership to clinical and program staff, ensuring consistent treatment delivery and adherence to best practices.
b. Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, and retention of staff.
c. Conduct performance evaluations, provide ongoing feedback, and manage corrective action when necessary.
d. Coordinate staff development and required training in collaboration with Compliance, HR, and Clinical Leadership.
e. Ensure supervision plans are established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with regulatory standards. - Financial Management
a. Maintain adherence to departmental budgets by monitoring expenditures, obtaining approval for non-budgeted expenses, and escalating financial or operational concerns as needed.
b. Support census management and program performance through alignment with admissions, marketing, and operational strategies.
c. Maximize program performance through oversight of service delivery, billing practices, and revenue cycle alignment.
d. Provides oversight of subordinate compensation and hiring, ensuring staffing levels and salary expenditures remain within approved budget parameters.
e. Collaborate with the Operations Director to manage facility and program-level operational costs.
f. Review monthly P&L statements to assess financial performance, identify trends, and take corrective action as needed.
g. In conjunction with the Operations Director and COO, lead annual budget development, with final approval from the CFO. - Professional Development
a. Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practices.
b. Complete continuing education requirements to maintain licensure.
c. Participate in marketing, outreach, and networking initiatives to support program growth.
d. Attend conferences as needed to support professional growth and organizational initiatives.
e. Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities. - Partnership with Operations Director – Operational Needs of Valley View
a. Oversee day-to-day operations of the facility, ensuring a safe, efficient, and therapeutic environment.
b. Manage facility needs including maintenance, supplies, safety protocols, and required drills.
c. Coordinate with administrative and support teams to address operational and client service needs.
d. Collaborate with the Operations Director and executive leadership to address operational challenges and ensure alignment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of three (3) years of management or supervisory experience within Co-Occurring Substance Use and Mental Health.
- Master's degree preferred
- Current LADC or Mental Health Professional licensure in the state of Minnesota required (dual licensure preferred).
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience providing or overseeing direct services to individuals with substance use disorders, in order to provide clinical supervision.
- Must successfully pass a DHS background study and be eligible to work in a licensed human services program.
- Ability to manage stressful situations professionally and effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Addiction Recovery Tech Qualifications
- Comply with MN 245G and program policies and procedures.
- Acknowledge understanding of Client Rights, per MN 245G.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must complete DHS background check and be cleared to work in human service programs.
- Be trained in medication administration or assistance with self-medication via one of the following:
- Successfully completed a medication administration training program for unlicensed personnel through an accredited Minnesota post-secondary educational institution; or
- Be trained according to a formalized training program which is taught by a registered nurse and offered by the license holder
- Have current TB/Mantoux screening

LADC Job description: We are looking for full-time Alcohol and Drug Counselors (LADC) at NorthStar Regional. The counselor plays an important role in the delivery of treatment services to the clients and is responsible for ensuring that all clients receive services mandated by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). In addition, counselors provide essential services to support achievement of effective personal development by working with clients individually or in group settings to identify and resolve issues including substance use, mental health, personal and/or emotional problems and family issues.
- In cooperation with the Program Director, evaluate and modify program design for the purpose of meeting licensure requirements and needs of clients.
- Provide case management/file documentation for individual caseload, noting all treatment related activities and services in an accurate, professional, and timely manner including assessment of chemical use and mental health problems, creating and monitoring individualized treatment plans, provide group therapy and individual counseling services to individuals with co-occurring chemical abuse and mental health problems.
- Facilitate/participate groups regarding the disease of addiction and the recovery process consistent with maintaining good mental health.
- Provide culturally sensitive and relevant services to diverse clients and their families. 5) Responsible for complying with federal and state confidentiality statutes, upholding ethical standards established and implied by the profession, and the DHS rules, and be limited in authority to that set by the Program Director.

Overnight Registered Nurse for Withdrawal Management
Summary: Under close direction and guidance of the Lead Nurse, the RN provides important support to the clients, medication administration, intakes, recording vitals, charting in medical databases, and other medical care during the time they are with NSR. The RN plays a key role during intakes, following protocol during intake and other duties as assigned.
Our facility is open 24 hours a day. We are hiring for all shifts, weekends include. Registered Nurse for Withdrawal Management Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and document the physical and mental health needs of clients, including vital signs and behavioral observations. Complete intake screening process for new clients, assess the need for medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and coordinate with medical providers to initiate MAT, if appropriate.
- Utilize withdrawal screening, interviews, and history-taking tools to assess client safety and identify potential risks.
- Collaborate with psychiatric providers and Program Director to assess mental health symptoms and contribute to the development of comprehensive treatment plans.
- Create, update, and maintain accurate medication administration records, ensuring the safe and responsible administration of medications to clients. Accurately use Electronic Medication Administration Record, Narcotics Book, and EHR systems.
- Provide client education that focuses on the treatment of mental health and substance use disorders, offering guidance and support to promote recovery.
- Supervise and provide guidance to chemical dependency technician staff, ensuring the highest level of client care.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare facilities including nurses, providers, and therapists. Facilitate referrals to healthcare providers or community resources for additional support, such as primary care and specialty clinics.
- Keep medical supplies in stock, organized, and up to date to facilitate smooth client care delivery.
- Maintain high-quality, timely, nursing documentation in patient charts across EHR systems to support continuity of care and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity in working with clients from diverse backgrounds, respecting each client’s needs and preferences.
- Stay current with developments in the field of substance use disorder treatment and participate in ongoing training and education to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Assist in maintaining high quality, timely nursing documentation in patient charts.
- Provide patient education focused on treatment of mental health and substance use disorders.
