NorthStar Regional’s locations work as one connected system of Minnesota drug rehab facilities and mental health care. Detox (withdrawal management) runs in Eden Prairie, with men’s residential care there, in Otsego, and in Shakopee. Chaska holds our men’s outpatient campus and a separate women’s campus, and Shakopee adds our clinic and offices. Every campus is a short drive from Minneapolis and Saint Paul, so stepping down never means a new provider. We accept Medical Assistance (Medicaid) and most major insurers, and the people who love you stay close.

We Pick You Up
You get reminder calls and texts before pickup. Your admissions coordinator and your driver also call you together, so you know who’s coming, what car to look for, and when to expect them. Most of our drivers are in long-term recovery themselves, and yours will help with your bags.

Which NorthStar Regional location is closest to me?
We operate across Carver, Scott, Hennepin, and Wright counties: Chaska (two campuses), Shakopee (two campuses), Eden Prairie, and Otsego. Call (833) 677-4673 and we will route you to the campus closest to you.
Which campus does medical detox?
Eden Prairie. It is the only campus with medical detox, staffed by nursing 24 hours a day, and it is where most NorthStar journeys start before stepping to another campus.
Are men's and women's campuses separate?
Yes. Four men’s campuses (our withdrawal management center in Eden Prairie, our men’s treatment center in Chaska, our men’s treatment center in Otsego, our men’s treatment center in Shakopee) and a fully separate women’s campus in downtown Chaska, where the closest men’s building is more than a mile away.
Do I choose my campus?
Admissions places you clinically: the right level of care comes first, and we keep you as close to home as possible within it. Because the campuses sit close together, a change in level of care is a short drive, not a new provider.
How long is the average stay at a rehab facility?
It depends on the level of care. Medical detox typically runs 3 to 7 days, residential treatment 35 to 50 days, and clients who continue through low-intensity residential reach 85 to 105 connected days. Someone who completes the entire continuum, through outpatient and sober living, is with us a year to 18 months.
Who pays for a rehab facility?
Usually insurance. Medicaid covers the large majority of our clients, most private plans cover treatment at in-network facilities like ours, and Minnesota’s Behavioral Health Fund exists for people with no coverage. Our team helps review your benefits before you commit to anything.
Why is it so hard to get into rehab?
At many facilities, the barriers are waitlists, upfront paperwork, and transportation. We built admissions to remove all three: a real person answers, our team helps review your benefits, we schedule same day or next day whenever possible, and we come pick you up.
What is the Minnesota Model?
Minnesota is where modern addiction treatment grew up: the Minnesota Model pioneered treating addiction as a disease, with dignity, peer support, and abstinence as the goal. NorthStar builds on that legacy and updates it: evidence based therapies, co-occurring mental health care at designated programs, and a person-centered plan where the client, not the program, is the expert in their own needs.
