Withdrawal Management

NorthStar Regional’s Medically Managed Withdrawal Management program provides safe, supportive, and 24/7 medically supervised care for men and women beginning their recovery journey.

Introduction

Medically Managed Withdrawal Management (Medical Detox)

NorthStar Regional’s detox program (ASAM 3.7 Level of Care), clinically known as medically managed withdrawal management, provides a safe, supportive environment for individuals beginning their recovery journey. Designed for clients experiencing withdrawal from alcohol, opioids, or other substances, the program offers round-the-clock care with licensed nursing staff, medical oversight, and psychiatric support. Our team carefully monitors client safety, manages withdrawal symptoms, and addresses co-occurring mental health concerns to ensure stability and comfort throughout the process.

Recovery is most successful when the whole person is treated. At NorthStar Regional, we use evidence-based withdrawal protocols, Medication-Assisted Treatment assessment, and therapeutic counseling to address the physical, mental, and emotional needs of each client. This holistic approach helps reduce complications, restore dignity, and create a strong foundation for the next phase of treatment.
Detoxification is only the first step, and our program emphasizes seamless transition planning. From the moment of admission, our staff begin working with clients to prepare for what comes next, whether that means residential treatment, outpatient services, sober living, or community-based supports. By reducing gaps in care, clients are more likely to maintain momentum and achieve lasting recovery.

As part of NorthStar Regional’s full continuum of care, our Withdrawal Management (medical detox) program integrates directly into our residential and outpatient services. This continuity allows individuals to move forward from detox to ongoing care with consistency and support, guided by a clinical team committed to their safety, dignity, and long-term recovery success.

FAQ

Understanding Medical Detox

Medical detox, also known as ASAM 3.7 medically managed withdrawal management, provides 24/7 medical oversight to safely manage withdrawal symptoms.

Length varies based on substance use history, health needs, and withdrawal severity. Most clients complete detox in several days before transitioning to the next level of care.

Detox services are provided at our Eden Prairie facility, and clients from other programs can be transferred when medically appropriate.
