Withdrawal management campus, Hennepin County
Detox Center in Eden Prairie, Minnesota
NorthStar Regional’s Withdrawal Management Center offers addiction treatment in Eden Prairie, about 20 minutes from downtown Minneapolis. Men and women who need detox (withdrawal management) start here with 24-hour nursing, making this campus the front door to our whole system. Men’s residential treatment and outpatient care with a place to stay run in the same building, so stabilization and treatment start together. Medical needs are handled on admission, and a comprehensive assessment follows early in your stay. We accept Medical Assistance (Medicaid) and most major insurers, and women continue at our separate women’s campus in Chaska.
Medical detox is staffed 24 hours a day.

Location overview
The Front Door of the NorthStar Regional Care Continuum
This is where day one happens.
Substance use disorders do not wait for a convenient week, so our withdrawal management center in Eden Prairie is built for arrivals in every condition. Medical needs are addressed immediately on admission and nursing checks in around the clock. Our admissions team sets up insurance, Medicaid, general assistance, clothing, and essentials, because access to care should not depend on what you carried in. However you got here, you are in the right place.
Who we serve here: adults, 18 and older. Withdrawal management serves both men and women; the residential and lodging programs are men’s, and women step from withdrawal management into our fully separate women’s treatment center in Chaska. We do not treat children or adolescents. If that is who you are calling about, call anyway and we will point you to the right resources.
The NorthStar Approach
Every program is licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services. You can check any license in the state’s DHS provider database. The focus stays on you, from the first call to the last step.
- A comprehensive assessment as part of admission

Care is delivered by experienced professionals
Licensed alcohol and drug counselors and mental health professionals in the building every day, with 12-step, SMART Recovery, and peer-led options available and none required. Individuals and families get the same straight answers, and the same respect for the person asking for help.

What Runs at Our Withdrawal Management Center in Eden Prairie: Detox, Residential Treatment, and IOP
About 3 to 7 days · The only campus with detox
Medical Detox and Withdrawal Management
Clinically managed and medically monitored withdrawal management with 24/7 nursing, psychiatric support, and medication-assisted treatment options through our medical partner. Detox services here handle the substances where withdrawal is genuinely dangerous, alcohol and benzodiazepines above all, focusing entirely on safety and stabilization.
About 35 to 50 days
Men's Inpatient Rehab
Live-in residential treatment for substance use, mental health, and medical needs together, right where detox happens. Inpatient care means structure you can lean on: a full clinical day, a supportive environment, and a team that already knows your chart.
With a place to stay · Roughly 29 to 30 hours of programming a week
Men's IOP with Lodging
An intensive outpatient program with lodging on campus, so recovery starts before housing is solved. The same evidence based therapies as residential care, at an outpatient treatment rhythm.
What comes next?
From our withdrawal management center in Eden Prairie, clients step to our men’s treatment centers in Shakopee and Otsego, our women’s treatment center in Chaska, or outpatient care at our men’s treatment center in Chaska, without leaving the system, plus a range of outpatient services beyond this campus.
Dual Diagnosis Care
Co-Occurring Mental Health Care Built into Every Day
Most people who arrive at our withdrawal management center in Eden Prairie aren’t fighting one thing. Depression, anxiety, and trauma show up alongside alcohol addiction and drug use so often that we treat co-occurring disorders as the default, not the exception. A mental health professional is assigned to this campus, mental health groups run inside the clinical day, and both conditions are worked in one plan by one team.
The clinical work runs on evidence based therapies, including cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT skills, EMDR for trauma, and motivational interviewing, with individual therapy and group work every week. Substance abuse never happens in a vacuum, and healing doesn’t either: the expertise here is aimed at comprehensive care for the whole person, however complex the story.
The long game
From Stabilization to Sober Living: The Full Continuum Past This Building
The point of this campus is the recovery journey that keeps going after it. Transition planning begins with your comprehensive assessment on day one: inpatient care into outpatient treatment, continuing care that keeps you connected for six to eight months or longer, and a sober housing pathway through our partnership with A Way Out Sober Living.
Every stage hands you to people who already know you, the recovery community you build stays reachable, and the foundation you pour here has somewhere to stand: hope with a schedule, a counselor, and an address.
What to Expect
What the First Days Look Like at Our Withdrawal Management Center in Eden Prairie
In detox, there is no rigid schedule. If you’re not feeling up to it, we meet you there: nursing checks in every hour, often more. Rest, eat, take medication as managed, and join an afternoon group if you’re up to it. In inpatient rehab, daily life takes shape: structure you can lean on, then hand back.
Morning
Up between 7:00 and 7:30, breakfast together, and programming starts at 8:00. Each day opens with meditation, to get grounded before the work begins.
Clinical Day
Heavy clinical work in the morning, when minds are freshest: primary groups and mental health groups. After lunch, learning groups and activity groups, plus one on one time with counselors and the mental health team.
Evening
Free time for treatment planning, exercise, or homework. After dinner, a peer-led support meeting of your choosing. The day closes with reflection and gratitude. Curfew at 10:00, lights out at 11:00.

How Admission Works
How Admissions Works: Two Steps
However you got here, you are in the right place.
1
Step One: You Call
We listen to what you are struggling with, what you need, and where you want to go. Then we walk through your options and find the right starting point for you. From day one, we also help with insurance enrollment, financial assistance, clothing, and essentials.
2
Step Two: We Pick You Up
An admissions coordinator stays on the line while a carefully vetted driver, most often someone in long-term recovery, picks you up anywhere in the Twin Cities metro. In the vehicle there is water, electrolytes, and a meal on the way, because arriving cared for matters.

Is this where medical detox happens?
Yes. Our withdrawal management center in Eden Prairie is the only NorthStar Regional campus with medical detox. You get 24/7 nursing with medical and psychiatric support, a comprehensive assessment as part of admission, and a typical stay of 3 to 7 days before you step into the next level of care.
What happens after detox here?
You move straight into men’s inpatient rehab, here or at another men’s campus like our men’s treatment center in Otsego or our men’s treatment center in Shakopee, inside the same system: no referral, no waiting, no starting over. Women step into our fully separate women’s treatment center in Chaska.
How long does residential treatment last?
Typically 35 to 50 days including withdrawal management; clients who continue through low-intensity residential reach 85 to 105 connected days, and the full journey into outpatient care and sober living runs a year to 18 months.
Why do people return to use after treatment?
Usually because treatment ended and nothing replaced it: no plan, no community, no next step. That’s why transition planning starts on day one here, continuing care keeps clients connected for months afterward, and the sober housing pathway gives the new habits a stable address.

Our team helps review your benefits, and we handle the paperwork with you before anything else happens. Benefits verification is not a guarantee of payment.
How do I get admitted?
Admission starts with a phone call. Tell us what you’re struggling with, what you need, and where you’d like to go. Then we’ll pick you up anywhere in the Twin Cities metro, and your comprehensive assessment happens as part of admission.
