NorthStar Regional Men's Treatment Center - Otsego, Wright County
Men's Treatment Center in Otsego, Minnesota
NorthStar Regional’s Otsego treatment center gives men a structured residential program, built to quiet the chaos substance use thrives on. Men come here from the northwest metro, including Elk River and Monticello, about 40 minutes from Minneapolis. Two stages run here: high-intensity residential care for 35 to 50 days, then low-intensity residential living. Substance use and mental health share one plan, with a mental health professional on campus. We accept Medical Assistance (Medicaid) and most major insurers, and the river paths, gym, and sweat lodge are the program, not the pitch.

Location overview
Men's Residential Treatment at Our Men's Treatment Center in Otsego
Substance use disorders thrive on chaos, so this campus was designed to reduce it.
It is a structured setting with real nature around it, licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services and staffed by licensed alcohol and drug counselors and a mental health professional assigned to the campus. Medical services and psychiatry run through our medical partner. Adult men come here from across Minnesota and the Twin Cities for co-occurring care, meaning the substance use and the mental health treatment happen in one plan, by one team. We fit recovery to the person, never the person to the program.
The setting does quiet work of its own. Riverfront walking paths, a gym with weights, basketball and sand volleyball courts, campus dining, large group rooms, and a sweat lodge built with Native American community partners: the grounds here are part of the program, never the pitch. The photos and video on this page are of the actual campus, because what you see is where you will live.
Programs at this campus
Two Programs, One Campus: Men's Residential and IOP with Lodging
Live-in treatment at full intensity: clinical mornings, educational groups, individual sessions, and a community of men doing the same work, then an intensive outpatient program with a place to stay as independence rebuilds. Program length depends on your comprehensive assessment, and your team determines the right level of care with you, not for you.
About 35 to 50 days
Men's Inpatient Rehabilitation
Live-in disorder treatment at full intensity: clinical mornings, educational groups, individual sessions, and a community of men doing the same work. Program length depends on your assessment, and your team will determine the right treatment intensity with you, not for you.
85 to 105 connected days with detox and residential
Low-Intensity Residential Treatment
The long game, on the same campus: more freedom, continued structure, and time for new habits to stop being new. Clients participate in programming while rebuilding work, family, and daily life outside the gate.
What about the rest?
Every Step Connected
Medical detox runs at our withdrawal management center in Eden Prairie, intensive outpatient and IOP with lodging at our men’s treatment center in Chaska and our withdrawal management center in Eden Prairie, and a sober housing pathway comes after.
A Daily Routine That Supports You
Co-Occurring Care and a Day Built on Purpose
Every day opens with meditation and closes with reflection. Between them: primary groups and mental health groups in the morning, education and recreation in the afternoon, individual therapy and group therapy through the week, and peer-led meetings after dinner, none required. A full schedule is part of the treatment, which is why the days stay structured and the courts stay busy.
The stay is long enough to matter here. Men decide things at our men’s treatment center in Otsego: to finish, to rebuild, to go home differently. Safety, routine, peer support, and a staff that includes people who have walked this path are what make those decisions hold, for the men here and for the families waiting on them.

Our Team
Meet the People Behind Your Care
The people guiding your care carry more than 80 combined years in this field, and some of them found their own way up through treatment. They have seen everything and judge none of it. Most of all, they do what they say they will do, and they care about your recovery.
Paying for Care
Insurance and Payment Options
Our team helps review your benefits and handles the paperwork with you. If you have no insurance, we help walk you through enrolling for benefits. County case managers, probation officers, hospitals, and crisis teams send clients to us because, in their words, we just get it done.
Insurance and State Funding
Commercial plans, Medical Assistance (Medicaid), county placements, and private pay. We verify benefits and handle the paperwork with you.
We Are Here to Help

How Admission Works
How Admissions Works: Two Steps
However you got here, you are in the right place.
1
Step One: You Call
We listen to what you are struggling with, what you need, and where you want to go. Then we walk through your options and find the right starting point for you. From day one, we also help with insurance enrollment, financial assistance, clothing, and essentials.
2
Step Two: We Pick You Up
An admissions coordinator stays on the line while a carefully vetted driver, most often someone in long-term recovery, picks you up anywhere in the Twin Cities metro. In the vehicle there is water, electrolytes, and a meal on the way, because arriving cared for matters.
